Tutong - The level of flood in the interior parts of Tutong has gone down, but it may take a few more days before these areas can be declared flood-free, according to the Tutong district office.
Hj Mohd Jamin Harun and Mohd Shah Asnawi Abd Rahim, the village heads of Kg Rambah and Kg Panchong respectively, have reported that the water level in their respective villages have subsided by several inches.
They have also informed the district office that the emergency response by the relevant authorities, especially in terms of ferrying residents and opening lines of communication despite the complications, have been very helpful and beneficial.
According to the district office, recent river widening works in Kg Tanjong Maya have made floodwaters flow smoothly, without any blockages or overflowing.
Hopefully, if all goes well things will be back to normal quite soon, it added.

According to weather reports from the Brunei Meteorological Service, Department of Civil Aviation, satellite pictures taken yesterday showed a decrease in weather activity around the country. Based on the latest Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) output from the United States, the satellite pictures also show a reduction; in weather activity around December 26 and 27.
In view of the current situation, the district office is once again advising residents of the affected areas to be extra cautious and not to go into the flooded areas or water unless they absolutely have to. This is to ensure that no unfortunate accidents happen as there are many unforeseen circumstances that arise with flood waters such as the presence of crocodiles, snakes and so on that thrive in the waters and the conditions.-- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
