Hijau May 2006: The future of the National Development
Party (NDP) depends on at the least two factors. First, the
complete understanding of the members on the party's policies
and the ability of each leaders to take the initiative to
listen to the citizens suggestions and qualms and to bring
them to the proper authorities.
This was highlighted by the Deputy President of NDP, sdra
Mahmud Morshidi Othman at recent NDP executive committee meeting.
There are nine members in the committee, the President, Deputy
President, all four Vice Presidents from each districts, General
Secretary, Treasurer and Deputy General Secretary.
During the meeting a total of eighty two new members were
approved of their membership to NDP.
"Each party member should understand the party's policies.
The policies are not only those prescribed in the party's
constitution but also those outlined by the Supreme Council,"
stated the
Deputy President.
He also stressed that as leaders they should listen to the
voice of each member and be open to proposals.
They were also reminded to encourage each member of their
respective districts to be observant in the needs of the people
and also to listen in to problems in their areas, so that
NDP may bring the matter to the proper authorities.
"The ability for leaders to read signals on the change
and development of their branches are crucial. It will be
frantic and disorganized if grassroots leaders failed to read
the early signs," stated the Deputy President
Party members must ensure that the each of their respective
branche is active and moving. Therefore they will play an
important role in helping and assisting the public and residents
in the area. When the branch leader and other members are
able to do something good for the public and residents, then
the community will give more support to what the party is
doing.
An independent and developed nation must move from its roots.
If the roots are weak then so will the nation, if they are
strong, so will the nation. Hence it is important that the
citizens at the roots must be active, and strong.
God willing (insyaallah) NDP can be agent to ensure that the
communities and the citizen are active. The role will be played
out by NDP branches of each district, or area.
"Each NDP members whether they are holding a post, or
just an ordinary member must be ready to assist His Majesty's
government be it the Penghulu or Ketua Kampong, or the police.
One of the aims and objectives of the establishment of the
party is to assist His Majesty's government in
terms of development and security of the nation.
The Deputy President gave a period of thirty days to the Vice
Presidents to help the Research and Organization Bureau to
restructure the position of the Branches especially with the
registration of new members.
He reminded them to inform the General Secretariat Department
(JASA) before holding meetings regarding the establishments
of branches. JASA will then seek approval from the Registrar
of Societies (ROS) of the intended meeting. The Deputy President
stressed not to hold a meeting before it has been approved
by the ROS.
Once it has been approved, as a gesture of respect, the Vice
Presidents must inform the police and Village Head (Ketua
Kampong) where the branches will be placed, advised sdra Morshidi. |
