Members of the National Development Party’s Agriculture and Agro Based Industries were also present to observe the event.
The new Marhani can be harvested every three months, compared to the Bario or Pusu paddy, planted at the moment, which can only be harvested once a year.
Director of Agrinduz Development Sdn Bhd had briefed the farmers on soil preparations and sowing of the Marhani paddy. He said that the Marhani paddy when properly planted may be harvested moe or less after 120 days.
Awang Gelawat Okang who has tasted the rice from the Marhani paddy testifies that it tastes better than the current rice produced by the Bario or Pusu paddy.
One farmer asked about the production and marketing of the new Marhani paddy to the director.
“If you were to agree, then we will market the products for you. All you need to worry about is the production,” explained Hj Matzin Hj Salleh the director of Agrinduz Development.
Agrinduz Development also took the opportunity to offer their services in terms of the marketing of agricultural products, consultancy, bringing in foreign experts if need be, as well as a working visits to farms and plantations in the Asia, so that farmers could learn the technique of other farmers.
On their visit to Temburong, Agrinduz also took the opportunity to visit farms, and view machineries that the paddy farmers used. In regards to this, they took the chance to promote their two new locally fabricated machines the Protovat and the Turtle Rotovat by showing paddy farmers on the effectiveness of these machines. |
